Research notes

[FamilySearch, 29 Jul 2026] Brother of PER-000016. An English name in the middle of an Afrikaans family - worth asking where "Wright" comes from.

[31 Jul 2026] MERGED PER-000406 into this row. Both rows carry FamilySearch id GHXS-SKZ, so they are one person. Kept PER-000164 ('Charles Frederick Wright OosthuizenH'); merged PER-000406 ('Charles Frederick Wright OosthuizenH'). Exposed by the _FID backfill of 31 Jul 2026, which gave nearly every person an id to collide on; before that these had no shared key. Check GHXS-SKZ on FamilySearch before assuming the upstream tree needs anything - it is usually the LOCAL tree that is stale (LEAD-0021). Moved across: tree id=. Dates sharpened from the merged row: death_edtf 1930 -> 1930-05-09. DISAGREEMENTS, kept rather than resolved - the FamilySearch id settles these in one click: birth_edtf: kept '1868', PER-000406 said '1869'.

[31 Jul 2026 SRC-171] HIS DEATH NOTICE. Names his father as OCKERT ALMERO OOSTHUIZEN (deceased) and his mother as ALETTA CATHARINA OOSTHUIZEN BORN HITGE, a widow at Prince Albert. That is PER-000005 (d. 1922, so deceased in 1930) and PER-000139 (d. 1933, so a widow in 1930) - both true, and this model already records him as their son. IT ALSO SETTLES A DISAGREEMENT FROM EARLIER TODAY: aged 61 years 8 months on 9 May 1930 puts his birth in about September 1868, so the 1868 kept in the merge with PER-000406 was right and the 1869 discarded from it was wrong. New from the notice: farmer, of Old Town, KLERKSDORP; married MARTHA MARIA (born Slisser[?]) in community of property at BETHULIE, O.F.S.; four children - Ockert Almero, Cornelis Johannes, Aletta Catharina (all majors in 1930) and Charles Frederick born 16 June 1912.

These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
