[3 Aug 2026, SRC-249] SHE IS THE HINGE OF THE VAN VUUREN LINE. Her brother Cornelis Petrus (PER-001413) died in the District of Prince Albert in 1863, and his death notice names their parents - Johannes Marthinus Janse van VuurenL (PER-001415) and Adriana Hermina KockM (PER-001416), married 25 January 1801. So her marriage to Gert Adriaan OosthuizenH is not a stray tie: it joins this project's anchor family to the van Vuurens who hold Wilgemond No. 179, Vrolikheid's western neighbour. Her nephew was named Gert Adriaan after her husband.
[SRC-250] THE MARRIAGE IS NOW DATED: 22 December 1838 at Beaufort, from the Cape Town Archives DRC registers via FamilySearch ark 62ZC-16FH. It had been inferred from the baptism of their first child; it is now a record in its own right, and the eleven months to that birth on 28 November 1839 fit exactly.
