Research notes

A FARM MADE BY CONSOLIDATION IN 1948, not by grant. Kaart van Gekonsolideerde Titel, art. 24(c) of Act 9 of 1927, L.G. 8870/47, surveyed May 1947 by J.P.E. Hartwig and approved by the Surveyor-General on 17 March 1948; attached to Certificate of Consolidated Title 2168H of 21 September 1948. IT WAS MADE OF THREE PIECES, and two of them came off a farm this project already holds: (1) the REMAINDER OF SMALDEEL, diagram 1044/1873 - the sheet has an earlier number struck through and 1044/1873 written in; (2) a GEDEELTE VAN ZEEKOEGAT, diagram 203/1867, T.A. 1867.19.188; (3) a GEDEELTE VAN ZEEKOE GAT, diagram 166/1895, T.A. 1895.16.1123. The figure runs down the middle of the TRAKA RIVER. Beacons are klipstapels around railway sleepers and iron posts.

[7 Aug 2026] PINNED to the cadastre on key W052C061000000000024000000. The diagram gives 8347.0012 morgen = 7150 ha and the modern polygon measures 7194 ha, a difference of 1%.
