Prince Albert

This parcel has no matched survey polygon, so it cannot be drawn on the map. That is a gap in the cadastre match, not an absence from the record.

Research notes

[5 Aug 2026 inbox] Portion 2 of Klein Valie No. 182, NAMED KOUDE VELD. Not yet held as its own sheet - the name and the diagram number 2117/1912 are read off the three 1932 subdivisions cut out of it (Portions 6, 7 and 8), each of which describes itself as 'portion of KOUDE VELD' and cites 'the original diagram is No. 2117/1912 annexed to Transfer Deed No. 11089 dated 8 October 1919 in favour of A.P. Muller J.C. sonM'. Extent not yet known. [TO VERIFY - diagram 2117/1912] No cadastral polygon: the Surveyor-General's pull carries no farm 182 portion 2, which is consistent with Koude Veld having been wholly consumed by the 1932 subdivisions - Kouveld, Groenkraal and Grootleegte - and the remainder. Recorded as NO-POLYGON per 5-second-rule, not deleted.

[13 Aug 2026] Renamed to the one form this model uses for every portion - the portion's own name, then the parent farm, its number and the portion in brackets - so that a name is legible in a list, a search result and a map popup without the reader having to know which farm number is which. It read "Koude Veld (Klein Valie Ptn 2)" before. Nothing about the ground changed.

The research behind this page, kept separate from it: dated working notes, open questions, and what is not yet settled.

What the record is missing

Found by breaks.py reading the model against itself, not written by hand, each one is a shape of missing record, not a fault in the data. The whole set is on the questions page.
