IT CLOSES A CIRCLE THIS PROJECT HAD BOTH HALVES OF. Anna Jacoba van Wyk's mother is ANNA JACOBA LOUISA VAN DER MERWE 1823-1893, FamilySearch LZ8C-1VT - which is PER-001779, imported into this model EARLIER THE SAME DAY from the 1866 and 1868 death notices of Schalk Willem van der Merwe and Anna Jacoba Louw. Her marriage to GERRIT JACOBUS VAN WYK is named on the 1868 notice itself (SRC-410), so the link is documentary and not a tree's. SO THE 1885 MARRIAGE WAS BETWEEN SECOND COUSINS: PER-000762 and PER-000763 are both great-grandchildren of Schalk Willem van der Merwe 1794-1866 and Anna Jacoba Louw, by different children. Nobody had joined the two lines because the wife's descent runs through a van Wyk and a Nel and the surname disappears for two generations. IT ALSO EXPLAINS BRASFONTEIN. [FAMILY] Brasfontein is FARM 371 and was GRANTED TO A VAN WYK.. Christina Elizabeth Nel died there in 1895 and her mother was a van Wyk, so she died on her mother's family's ground - the same shape as her husband's grandfather dying on Lokenburg, which came in through HIS wife. AND IT FILLS THE FIVE CHILDREN. Her 1895 death notice names five, all minors; this model held two. The other three now have ids and birth years, and the eldest gains a death year of 1938. The children are on the death notice; only the dates are the tree's. Jacobus Johannes Gideon Nel and Anna Jacoba van Wyk married at CALVINIA on 11 JANUARY 1858 and had THIRTEEN children. Gerrit Jacobus van Wyk and Anna Jacoba Louisa van der Merwe married at CLANWILLIAM on 1 MARCH 1840 and had six, one of them christened GERRIT JACOBUS VAN DER MERWE VAN WYK - the surname carried as a given name again.
