THIS IS THE PAGE SRC-392 POINTED BACK TO. Page 7 said "Lees in die begin waar ons voorouers by Krugers inskakel" and this is the begin. TRANSCRIBED. "OUMA VAN RENSBURG. Gebore: 6 Desember 1900 - Williston. Maria Magrietha Walters. / Haar Ma, ons ouma Walters se nooiensvan was KRUGER. Die Carnarvon Kruger's. Haar ma was weer 'n nooi SMUTS. / Ouma van Rensburg of Ma van Rensburg se ma se naam was Lenie en haar Pa was Koos Walters. [inserted by hand:] hy was 'n neef van President Paul Kruger. / MA VAN RENSBURG se broers en susters: 1) Sy was oudste [hand:] Malie 2) Lenie (of Wally) 3) Mieta 4) Ockey 5) Koos 6) Francis 7) Kally. / Toe oom Koos gebore is het Ouma en Oupa Walters voor geboorte die kind aan Jannie Smuts belowe. Hulle het gevoel hulle kan nie nog 'n kind bekostig nie. Met die geboorte van die kind (Koos) wou hulle nie van hom afsien nie. Genl. The page then gives her sisters' marriages - Wally of Lenie to a Roux, Mieta to Kootjie Erasmus - with their children. IT CLOSES LEAD-0164, AND IT SPLITS THE QUESTION IN TWO. THE KRUGER IS THE WIFE'S MAIDEN NAME, exactly as this model implied before the page arrived: "ons ouma Walters se nooiensvan was KRUGER" is Magdalena Maria Kruger, PER-000418, called LENIE. The family adds a detail worth having - THE CARNARVON KRUGERS. The handwritten insertion still puts the presidential kinship on the husband, "hy was 'n neef van President Paul Kruger", and page 7 repeats it; but the typed text on this same page says the Kruger blood came in with his wife. The memory has attached the connection to the man and the document contradicts it two lines above. AND THERE IS A SMUTS IN THE ANCESTRY: "Haar ma was weer 'n nooi SMUTS" - Magdalena Maria Kruger's own mother was born Smuts. That is a real Smuts in the direct maternal line, two generations above Maria Magrietha. BUT THE SMUTS IN THE 1911 SON'S NAME IS A GODFATHER, NOT AN ANCESTOR, AND THIS CORRECTS A READING MADE HERE EARLIER TODAY. On 11 Aug this project inferred from Jacobus Abraham SMUTS Walters that a Smuts stood in the ancestry rather than a politician, because that is how this family carries surnames. The family's own account says otherwise: they promised the unborn child to JANNIE SMUTS because they felt they could not afford another, would not give him up when he came, and GENL. SMUTS STOOD GODFATHER and saw him whenever he was in the Cape. The boy is named for the man who nearly raised him. Both things are true - there is a Smuts great-grandmother AND a Smuts godfather - and the inference reached the right family for the wrong reason. HER BIRTH IS CONFIRMED TO THE DAY: 6 December 1900 at Williston, which is what this model holds and which the 1919 marriage register contradicted by calling her 17. The register was wrong or rounded; she was 18. HELD BACK FROM THIS NOTE: the page names her sisters' children and grandchildren, several of whom may be living, and states a medical condition of one man's wife. None of that is written here. It is family, not evidence about anybody in the direct line. THE PAGE ITSELF IS NOW HELD as an image. Frans photographed each of the two pages twice; the sharper frame of each is kept and the duplicate frames discarded.

Kept verbatim. This project contradicts published genealogies and corrects a family's own oral tradition, so every claim has to be checkable by someone who was not in the room.
