The generation that joins Catharina van MalabarM (PER-001432) to the Oosthuizen line: her daughter, and the mother of Catharina Bastijaans PylH (PER-000768). Recorded here to make the descent visible rather than implied. NO PLACE IS ASSERTED HERE. The private tree gives a birthplace, but this project treats the tree's place strings as hostile and they are least reliable exactly where they matter most - on people carried across an ocean. The toponym in the NAME is what the Cape record itself used and is recorded as written. VERIFICATION ROUTE: the First Fifty Years project, which transcribes the Cape records of 1652 onward and documents enslaved and free-black people rather than only settlers. [FS L1SQ-L4Y, 6 Aug 2026] BAPTISED 18 NOVEMBER 1674, and Frans sent the register page: 'Den 18 Novemb: des dochtertie van CORNELIS CLAES en CATARINA VAN MALBAAR gedoopt swartinne wijst genaamt CORNELIA.' Her mother was manumitted before the marriage of 15 March 1676, so CORNELIA WAS BORN INTO SLAVERY and freed with her mother as an infant. Birth recorded as 1674-11~ because the register gives the baptism and not the birth. She married Abraham Bastiaansz Pijl of Groenerivier in the Helderberg - now Alto and Webersburg - and their daughter is [PER-000768] Catharina Bastijaans PylH, which is how this descent reaches the Oosthuizens.
