What the record holds, in order

No dated record on this parcel yet. It is on the map because the Surveyor-General has a polygon for it; the history is not transcribed.

Also bordered by, as the modern cadastre draws it

Ground that touches this farm on the Surveyor-General's current polygons and that none of the diagrams held here names. Derived from the geometry, not read off a document.

Research notes

[10 Aug 2026] WHERE IZAAK JOHANNES VAN DER MERWE DIED on 11 May 1839, aged 30 years 11 months 26 days, a boeren arbeider who left no property the informant knew of [SRC-347]. He was born on TYGERHOEK about May 1808, and the two farms are 5.8 KM APART - which is the 1823 diagram's own statement made measurable. That sheet marks a strong fountain 'gem. drinking der plaatsen Tygerhoek en Enkelde Wilgeboom' [SRC-359]: one spring watering both places. A man born on one and dead on the other lived his whole life inside six kilometres. THREE SPELLINGS, ONE PLACE, ALL KEPT. The cadastre registers it ENKELDE WILGENBOOM, the 1823 diagram writes Enkelde Wilgeboom, and the 1839 death notice writes 'Inkelde wilgeboom'. The parcel takes the registered form because a parcel is a cadastral object; PLC-000057 keeps the diagram's. Neither is a correction of the other, 5a.
