Research notes

[31 Jul 2026 inbox] A 25-morgen erf inside Reim Hoogte, 'bounded on all sides by the Remainder of Remhoogte' (DOC-0127), surveyed March 1908 and transferred 15 June 1908 to J.J.P. du PlessisH. Already drawn on the 1833 face, so the name is at least 75 years older than its survey. Converts to 21.6 ha against a modern 26.1 - ratio 1.21, the ~1.20 pattern again on a parcel small enough that the discrepancy cannot be portions coming off.

[13 Aug 2026] Renamed to the one form this model uses for every portion - the portion's own name, then the parent farm, its number and the portion in brackets - so that a name is legible in a list, a search result and a map popup without the reader having to know which farm number is which. It read "Rossel Erf (Reim Hoogte Ptn 1)" before. Nothing about the ground changed.

What would settle it The current title deed traced backwards, each transfer names the one before it, or the Surveyor-General's subdivision diagrams, which are what usually explain a farm going quiet.
