Research notes

"Beacons D and E cairns 3.5ft by 3ft... The line E-A is fenced and beaconed off by line beacons. The corner of fence E.A produced is a wooden pole being also corner beacon."

[5 Aug 2026] MERGED DOC-0214 INTO THIS ROW - one sheet, two rows. Byte-identical PDFs (MD5 0f958f54...). One archive file, 10767697, filed at the whole farm in July and again at the portion in the 3 Aug hint-era batch. DOC-0214 is retired and its id will never be reused. Moved across: deed_ref=1872-23-208. DISAGREEMENTS between the two rows, recorded rather than resolved: doc_type: kept 'SG_diagram', DOC-0214 said 'beacon_report'; par_id: kept 'PAR-000009', DOC-0214 said 'PAR-000044'; original_filename: kept '10767697.PDF', DOC-0214 said '10767697 124 6.pdf'; source_file: kept 'sources/diagrams/DOC-0047-elandsfontein-beacon-report-1921.pdf', DOC-0214 said 'sources/diagrams/DOC-0214-elandsfontein-rondabel-124-ptn6-beacon-report-1921.pdf'; source_id: kept 'SRC-060', DOC-0214 said 'SRC-248'. DOC-0214's own note read: Beacon report on Elandsfontein, portion of Rondabel. Confirms Driehoek as the parcel to the east.

[5 Aug 2026] par_id moved from PAR-000009 (Rondabel, the whole farm) to PAR-000044 (Elandsfontein, Rondabel Portion 6), and doc_type corrected from SG_diagram to beacon_report. This is the 1921 beacon report for diagram 891/1921, which is Portion 6's diagram (DOC-0046) - the July filing put it on the parent farm because the archive filename carried no portion hint, and the type was taken from the batch rather than the sheet. Both were right on the merged row and are now right on this one.

The research behind this page, kept separate from it: dated working notes, open questions, and what is not yet settled.
