Afrikaans naming repeats hard, and the Cape Dutch naming pattern reuses a name on purpose, a child who died young has the name given again to a later sibling. These are different people. Never match on a name alone.

29 Jul 2026 [SRC-119, family tradition + tree]: "gebore en afkomstig van die plaas Vrolikheid" per descendant Fred van Zyl - placing his father's household on Vrolykheid (PAR-000014) around 1809, a generation before the 1833 survey [FAMILY][TO VERIFY]. In 1848 he helped establish the first four Marico farms and named his KLAARSTROOM after the farm/place bordering his birthplace (EVT-000008); a portion remains with Van Zyl descendants (Fred van Zyl, 2026). His daughter Susarra Cornelia (1845-1923) married Jan Adriaan van Zyl (1839-1895), son of Wynand van ZylM and Johanna Jacomina OosthuizenM (PER-000122) - Fred's double descent from both brothers.

[31 Jul 2026] MERGED PER-000572 into this row. Duplicate created by the 31 Jul 2026 one-degree tree pull: kin_sweep.py matched on tree id only, so a person already in the model WITHOUT a tree id was added a second time. Same display name AND same full birth date - name plus date, not name alone. Survivor is the pre-existing row; it carries the research. Moved across: tree id=. Dates sharpened from the merged row: death_edtf 1876 -> 1876-03-23. DISAGREEMENTS, kept rather than resolved - the FamilySearch id settles these in one click: display_name: kept 'Ockert Jacobus OosthuizenL (b.1809)', PER-000572 said 'Ockert Jacobus OosthuizenL'.

[SRC-294, Fred van Zyl, 6 Aug 2026] [FAMILY] FOUR ADDITIONS, none of them yet documented. (1) He is b7c3d2's son in the de Villiers numbering: his father Jacobus Johannes is b7c3d2 (1785-1867) and the root ancestor Ockert Almero is b7c3d3, both sons of Ockert Almero OosthuizenL (1754/55-1809). (2) HE HAD FOURTEEN CHILDREN, against the three of his cousin and namesake PER-000124 - and this model records ZERO for him, so fourteen children of a man born on Vrolikheid are missing from the tree here. (3) One of them was SUSARA CORNELIA OOSTHUIZEN, who married Jan Adriaan van Zyl, Fred's oupagrootjie; she has no row here. (4) At his Marico Klaarstroom he established a SECOND farm, TWEEFONTEIN, to settle his descendants - which Fred reads as the same tactic used at Middelwater and Vrolikheid. [TO VERIFY] throughout. See LEAD-0109.
