THE ENTRIES: 1 name HENDRIK JACOBUS STORM. 2 birthplace KAAPCOLONIE. 3 parents HENDRIK WILLEM STORM and MAGDALENA FREDRICA BOTES. 4 age 56 JAAR 5 MAANDEN EN 5 DAGEN. 5 occupation LANDBOUWER. 6 married to ANNA DOROTEA BOTES. 8 died 'op de plaats GROENVONTEIN, district LADYBRAND'. 9 a will exists. 10 movable and immovable property. 11 THIRTEEN CHILDREN: Hendrik Willem (of age), Cornelia Elisabetha (of age), Jacob Abraham (of age), Magdalena Frederica (of age), then nine minors - Andries Stefanus, Abraham Adriaan, [Zugereea?] Johanna Petronella, Elsie Dorotea, Anna Dorotea, Aletta Jacoba, Hendrik Jacobus, David Johannes, Jan Willem. Drawn up 22 February 1879, signed H.W. STORM; certified a true copy by the Weesheer of the Orange Free State at Bloemfontein on 16 October 1888. WHY IT MATTERS MORE THAN ONE MAN'S DEATH. It names his parents outright and they are the couple this project already holds: Hendrik Willem Storm (1797-1855, died at Prince Albert) and Magdalena Frederica Botes, married Beaufort West 1819. It is therefore the first PRIMARY document tying the Storm family of these graves together. AND IT SAYS WHERE THEY WENT. He is a farmer at GROENVONTEIN in the district of LADYBRAND, in the ORANGE FREE STATE. The Storms left the Cape. That answers the question the ledematenregister raised, which is why no Storm appears at Prins Albert after the father's death in 1854-55: the family trekked north. THE AGE GIVES A BIRTH of about 19 September 1822, and FamilySearch has him 1822-1879. TWO GENERATIONS OF STORM-BOTES MARRIAGES: the father married Magdalena Frederica Botes and this son married ANNA DOROTEA BOTES. AND IT PRODUCES THE JUNIOR. His eldest son is a HENDRIK WILLEM STORM, of age by 1879 and so born before 1858 - the private tree holds one born 13 May 1854. That is the man the word 'Senr' on the 1855 ledematen page was distinguishing his grandfather from. [TO VERIFY] the archive reference and the seventh child's given name.
