Register image supplied by Michiel Josias Botes, 21, jongman, Boer, woonplaats ZEVENFONTEIN; Maria Johanna Oosthuizen, 25, jongedochter, Prins Albert. Married 'na gebooden' by A.J.L. Heb(?), Pred. der Ned. Ger. Kerk. Consent: his mother J.C. Botes; her STEPFATHER N. v.d. Westhuizen - so her mother Magdalena Maria van Wyk had remarried a van der Westhuizen by 1895, which is a finding in its own right and fits the Hendrica Helena van der Westhuizen who witnessed their 1899 child's baptism (SRC-145). Her stated 25 against a birth of 14 Dec 1868 makes her 26 - the usual one-year slip, not a reason to doubt either record.
Kept verbatim. This project contradicts published genealogies and corrects a family's own oral tradition, so every claim has to be checkable by someone who was not in the room.
