CANDIDATE 2 for the stamvader's own baptism, and ALSO REJECTED on the naming evidence. Read from the scan: child JOHANNES; father JOHANNES OOSTHUYSEN; mother ANTONETTE DE REDE; witnesses KATHARINA VAN NES and LYSBETH OOSTHUYSZ. This is a DIFFERENT FAMILY from the Amsterdam one - same father's name, different wife - which is the whole difficulty: Johannes Oosthuysen was not a rare name in the seventeenth-century Netherlands, and picking the one that happens to have the right birth year is how compiled trees go wrong. FamilySearch's 1675 birth for our stamvader probably comes from this record.

Kept verbatim. This project contradicts published genealogies and corrects a family's own oral tradition, so every claim has to be checkable by someone who was not in the room.
