This citation is incomplete. Supplied as a screenshot. The ark and film/image numbers were never captured, so the original cannot be ordered from this entry alone. Recorded as a gap rather than tidied up: a citation that cannot be followed is a research question, not a formatting one.

The citation as it was given

CANDIDATE 1 for the stamvader's own baptism, and REJECTED on the naming evidence - see the analysis in the notes on PER-000296 and PER-000319. Read from the scan: father JOHANNES OOSTHUIJSZ, mother CATRINA BOUWMANS, witnesses BALTJIS JACOBUS BOUWMAN and MARIA MATTHIJS OOSTHUIJS, child JOHANNES. The witnesses are informative in themselves: a Bouwman with the patronymic Jacobus suggests Catrina's father was JACOBUS Bouwman, and a female Oosthuijs with the patronymic Matthijs suggests that family's grandfather was MATTHIJS - neither of which is what our stamvader named his children for. The date is not visible in the screenshot [TO VERIFY]; Frans's tree dates this child 1672.

Kept verbatim. This project contradicts published genealogies and corrects a family's own oral tradition, so every claim has to be checkable by someone who was not in the room.
