[FS LB6F-HFF] Married Hendrik Willem StormH at Beaufort West, 4 April 1819 [FS]. THE THIRD BOTES MARRIAGE TO TURN UP IN THESE FAMILIES in two days - Botes x Storm 1819, Botes x Freysen 1857, Botes x Niehaus 1855 - which says the Botes were a district family these households kept marrying into. No Botes is among Frans's 2,736 ancestors. IN SCOPE UNDER 9a AS AN ARRIVAL QUESTION, not as kin: the Storms are affinal to this family through the Niehaus-Zulch marriage, and the oldest grave on Varsche Fontein reads B. STORM 1848. LEAD-0124.
[SRC-306] HER OWN DEATH NOTICE, AND IT MOVES HER. She died AT HER OWN HOUSE AT PRINCE ALBERT on 10 APRIL 1884, aged 87, a farmer's widow - twenty-nine years after her husband. The Storm move to the Orange Free State was NOT a family move: sons went, the mother stayed in this district to the end. SHE WAS BORN IN THE GOUPH, DISTRICT OF BEAUFORT WEST - the Koup field cornetcy this project holds as PLC-000020, the ground this history sits on. Her parents were JACOB ABRAHAM BOTES and ELSJE DOROTHEA GOUWS. SHE LEFT IMMOVEABLE PROPERTY, valued with her movables at under 2,000 pounds, 'all sold immediately and the account filed'. THERE WAS LAND. The liquidation account would name it, and this project has a sixty-two year hole in the ownership of Varsche Fontein with two Storm graves inside it. LEAD-0124. Her age of 87 gives a birth about 1797 where FamilySearch says 1799; the notice's age is the softer figure and both are kept.
[7 Aug 2026, FS] HER PARENTS ARE NOW KNOWN: Jacobus Abraham BotesL [LB6D-WKC] and Elsje Dorothea GouwsM [LC3S-HTS]. FamilySearch gives her birth as 1799; this project holds 1797~, a circa. Both are recorded and the circa is not overwritten. Her death notice says she was born in the GOUPH, which with a father born in 1768 puts the Botes on this ground by the 1790s.

What would settle it THE LIQUIDATION AND DISTRIBUTION ACCOUNT OF MAGDALENA STORM BORN BOTES, died Prince Albert 10 April 1884. Her death notice says she left IMMOVEABLE PROPERTY to be 'all sold immediately and the account filed'. That account names the land. It is now the single most direct route to whether the Storms held ground on or near Varsche Fontein. Failing that, the estate papers of her husband, died Prince Albert 19 August 1855.
