Research notes

[31 Jul 2026 inbox] Named on SG dgm 388/1816 (DOC-0074), Vrolykheid No. 61, Tulbagh. Southern neighbour. INITIALS ONLY - deliberately NOT matched to anyone in the tree. THE ONE THAT MATTERS. A de Bruin holds ground beside a farm called Vrolykheid at Tulbagh in 1816; Jan de BruinM (PER-000048, 1769-1822) holds the loan farm Rondabel in the Koup by 1818 and dies on it, married to Aletta Johanna OosthuizenM (PER-000049). Two de Bruins, two districts, two years apart. Whether they are one family is unproven and is now the sharpest test available for both LEAD-0010 and LEAD-0014.

These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
