Research notes

[5 Aug 2026, DOC-0240] Read off the deduction table on the back of the Minnies Kraal No. 112 diagram - survey record E2090/55 - which lists all eight portions cut from the farm in the single 1955 campaign, each with its own diagram and 1956 deed. Gedeelte 6 ('Ged' is Gedeelte, Portion - : SG diagram 8737/1955, 882.6769 morgen, deed 2301/1956. The diagram itself is not held here; this row rests on the parent's deduction table. TRANSCRIPTION CHECKED AGAINST THE GROUND: the recorded extent and the modern cadastral polygon for this portion agree to within about 1%, which is what gives confidence in a faint table.

[13 Aug 2026] Renamed to the one form this model uses for every portion - the portion's own name, then the parent farm, its number and the portion in brackets - so that a name is legible in a list, a search result and a map popup without the reader having to know which farm number is which. It read "Minnies Kraal Portion 6 (No. 112 Ptn 6)" before. Nothing about the ground changed.

The research behind this page, kept separate from it: dated working notes, open questions, and what is not yet settled.

What the record is missing

Found by breaks.py reading the model against itself, not written by hand, each one is a shape of missing record, not a fault in the data. The whole set is on the questions page.
