Research notes
[1 Aug 2026 inbox] The parent farm of Spitskop (PAR-000102). Traka field cornetcy, DIVISION OF WILLOWMORE, which is the same registration division (C0830000, Eastern Cape) that Haggas No. 145 turned out to sit in. Present here only because its Portion 11 diagram arrived; no diagram of the parent farm is held and its extent is unrecorded. NO GEOMETRY, and for the same reason as Haggas: data/fetch_cadastre.py talks to the WESTERN Cape Surveyor-General, which does not serve a Willowmore-division farm. See LEAD-0053. [1 Aug 2026] [2 Aug 2026] NAME NOTE, geometry believed right. The Willowmore cadastre names farm 143 SPITSKOP, not Karee Rivier - and our own Portion 11 of this farm is the parcel we call Spitskop. So the modern cadastre appears to have taken the portion's name for the whole farm, or the farm was renamed. The historical name on the diagram is Karee Rivier and this project keeps it. Recorded so the disagreement is visible. [TO VERIFY]

Which A.F. Hitge took Spitskop in 1939?
priority 3 · LEAD-0055
Who is the A.F. HitgeM named in Deed of Partition No. 3399 of 5 April 1939 over Karee Rivier No. 143 Portion 11?
What would settle it Reading Deed of Partition 3399, which names every party to it in full. The diagram recites only one of them.
What the record is missing
-
Nobody is on record as ever having held this
third order · B8 never-held
Karee Rivier No. 143 is in the model and drawn on the map, and carries no ownership record of any kind, not a grant, not a transfer, not an occupation.
What would settle it The Surveyor-General's diagram for the farm number names the grantee and the date; the deed reference on it opens the transfer chain.
Found by breaks.py reading the model against itself, not written by hand,
each one is a shape of missing record, not a fault in the data.
