Research notes
"Portion 3 (Annex Modderdrift) of the farm Rhemhoogte No 125, Prince Albert" - 2377 morgen 38261 sq ft, F.C. of Traka; approved 30.3.1931; survey records E 144/1931; substituted by Dgm 2498/2016 (handwritten note). "This diagram is annexed to Transfer Deed No. 13525 dated 20/12/1937 in favour of E.A. OOSTHUIZEN." "The original diagram is No. 1149/1874 annexed to the Deed of Grant (P.A.Q.2-20) dated 1.7.1879 in favour of [typed name struck, "A.A." inserted above] Oosthu[y]sen & another" - grantee read as (J.)A.A. Oosthuysen, correction marks on the form, both readings kept [TO VERIFY].
[3 Aug 2026] publish_ok=yes. This is an OLD FARM DIAGRAM held back only because a TRANSFER ENDORSEMENT on its face crosses the 1936 scan cut-off - the survey itself is from the 1920s or 1930s. The names on it are the surveyor, the neighbouring farms and a transferee of the 1930s or 1940, all long dead and most of them already published as person records here. Reviewed individually, not opened as a category.
[12 Aug 2026] THE NUMBER IS 1081/1931, and it does not come from this sheet. This diagram's own number is partly illegible on the copy held here and stays described that way. SG 2498/2016 (DOC-0175), which replaced it, states in its own title block: "Die oorspronklike kaart wat deur hierdie kaart vervang word, is Nr. 1081/1931". A later diagram naming the one it supersedes is evidence, not a plausible reading, which is the distinction 5a note 5 turns on.
The research behind this page, kept separate from it: dated working notes, open questions, and what is not yet settled.
