Burial ground CEM-183

Karoo National Park, Brandewyns Ghat 214, Brandewynsgat, farm cemetery_04

0 graves recorded

[11 Aug 2026] eGGSA album in the BEAUFORT-WEST RURAL collection, added with the Northern Cape burial grounds' treatment: a burial ground this project has NOBODY in is still worth a pin, because the value is the link to eGGSA for a future researcher. It draws as a PALE cross, not a dark one, and that distinction is automatic - it follows from having no grave of ours on it - so it cannot read as a family grave at a glance. THE COORDINATE IS eGGSA's OWN, off the album page's "Google Earth Project Information" line, and it is DEGREES AND DECIMAL MINUTES: GPS: -32 6.062, 23 0.630 is -(32 + 6.062/60), not -32.6062. Read the obvious way it puts Beaufort West a hundred kilometres out. NO COORDINATE: this album carries a GPSID but no GPS line, so it gets NO PIN. An unresolved place gets no pin: a wrong cross is worse than a missing one, because a map makes a claim look authoritative. The album is still reachable by its link.

No coordinate is recorded for this ground, so it is not drawn on the map. A reading taken at the graves would put it there.

Photographed here, not yet read

7 photographs of this ground carry a caption on eGGSA that nothing in this project has yet matched to a person. The words are eGGSA's transcription of the stone, kept exactly as written; nobody here has read the photograph. Each one links to its own page on their site.

The photographs are eGGSA's and stay on their site; this project links to them and does not copy them. Their albums are expressly incomplete, so a name missing here is not evidence that person is not buried here.
