Afrikaans naming repeats hard, and the Cape Dutch naming pattern reuses a name on purpose, a child who died young has the name given again to a later sibling. These are different people. Never match on a name alone.

Navorsingsnotas

[SRC-072] GRANTEE OF RIETKUIL NO. 118 ON 15 APRIL 1841. Born Graaff-Reinet district, baptised there 11 Aug 1799. Married three times, twenty-one children, outlived two wives and eight of the children. Moved to the Koup about 1825, farmed Vlakfontein (surveyed for him by Stretch in 1833), then Rietkuil on the Kouka from about 1837. Wrote the 19 Nov 1838 letter to magistrate Meintjes (EVT-000103). Died at Rietkuil 26 Mar 1885. family-tree PLACE ERROR: the tree records his death place as "Rietkuil, Middelburg, TRANSVAAL" - it was Rietkuil, Prince Albert, Cape. Corrected here.

These are working notes, not finished prose: they carry the reasoning, the corrections and the things still marked to verify. They are kept here so the page itself can read as what is known.
