Age: 27 YEARS 6 MONTHS. 5. Condition in life: FARMER'S WIFE. 6. Married; surviving spouse FRANS JACOBUS WILHELMUS V.D. MERWE. 7. Day of decease: 28 FEBRUARY 1895. 8. Where died: AT BRASFONTEIN, CALVINIA. 9. Children, ALL MINORS: "Elsie Johanna v.d. Merwe; Jacobus Johannes Gideon v.d. Merwe; Schalk Willem Burger v.d. Merwe; Anna Jacoba v.d. Merwe; Elizabeth Cristina v.d. Merwe". FIVE CHILDREN, AND THIS MODEL HELD TWO. Elsje Johanna (PER-001771, born 1887) and Jacobus Johannes Gideon (PER-000219, born 1888) were the only two known. THREE MORE: Schalk Willem Burger, Anna Jacoba and Elizabeth Cristina, all under age in 1895, none of them anywhere in this record. LEAD-0168. AND THE FIVE NAMES ARE THE CAPE NAMING ORDER RUN STRAIGHT THROUGH. Elsie Johanna is the father's mother; Jacobus Johannes Gideon is the mother's father; Schalk Willem Burger is the father's father; Anna Jacoba is the mother's mother; Elizabeth Cristina is the mother herself. Five children, five names, every one accounted for by the pattern. This project has been reading that pattern off single names for a year and here is the whole sequence at once. BRASFONTEIN, CALVINIA is where she died and is new ground: not Matjiesfontein, where he was born and living in 1885, and not Oude Muur, where he was in 1897. She died at 27 leaving five children under age, and he lived another sixty-one years. Her age, 27 years 6 months, computes to a birth about 28 August 1867 and corroborates SRC-399.
