WHAT FITS: born 1798, and the cameo has its Petrus dying 2 Jan 1876 'at the ripe old age of 77', which puts his birth at 1798-99. A Johannes Petrus called Petrus is ordinary doopnaam/noemnaam practice. WHAT DOES NOT FIT: FamilySearch marries him to MARIA ELISABETH SELIE (FS KCDP-RTH, b.1802) at Swellendam on 3 July 1824 and gives him ONE child, Susanna Elisabeth Carolina (FS LZBR-9G4, 1825-1831, dead at six). The cameo's Petrus married a Maria nee PITZER who died 21 Nov 1842 after eleven children, then Catherina Helena GELDENHUYS with ten more. Different wife, and twenty-one children against one. NOT MERGED. FamilySearch carries NO DEATH DATE for KZLR-PR5, so 2 January 1876 is unclaimed and is exactly the fact that would join or separate them. See LEAD-0031. *** [31 Jul 2026] THE CASE ABOVE IS VOID AND MUST NOT BE USED. Its whole 'WHAT FITS' was the cameo's Petrus dying 2 Jan 1876 aged 77, giving a birth of 1798-99 to match this man's 1798. THAT DEATH IS PETRUS JOHANNES MEIRING'S (PER-000517), not Petrus OosthuizenM's - the same mis-reading that had to be unwound on PER-000505 the same day. So is the 'WHAT DOES NOT FIT': the Pitzer and Geldenhuys wives and the twenty-one children are Meiring's too, so they are not evidence against this man either.

WHAT ACTUALLY REMAINS: the cameo gives Petrus OosthuizenM NO DATES AT ALL. There is nothing to match on except the name - which 9 says is never enough - and one new fact, that he had a BROTHER OCKERT. This man's FamilySearch siblings are Gerrit Johannes Jacobus, Jacobus Christiaan, Dina Carolina, Susanna Catharina, Anna Johanna and Jacoba Hendrina: NO OCKERT. On the only testable point the record now offers, he FAILS. Left in place as a person, withdrawn as a candidate. ***
