[SRC-072] Gave Botterkraal as his address at his marriage in Sep 1915, four years before it was registered to his father. Fenced the whole farm himself with jackal-proof wire with his four eldest sons, drove 900 merino wethers home on foot from Colesberg over two months, and lost the farm anyway - sold 6 Jun 1943 to pay debts. The family took relief from the ACVV between 1933 and 1939. Died 30 Jan 1948 in Rondebosch Hospital; buried in an unmarked grave at Woltemade, Cape Town.
