TRANSCRIPTION, verbatim: "The above figure lettered a to k represents 510 morgen 532 sq rds of ground called TYGER HOEK EXTENSION, situated in the Field Cornetcy of Voor Hantam, Division of Calvinia. Bounded NWrds by Klipfontein and Crown Land; NEds and Eds and SEds by Tyger Hoek and Klipfontein; Wrds by Vygge Vlakte; Srds Klipfontein Extn and Klipfontein. 1879. Surveyed by me, Wm. de Smidt Junr., Gov. Surv." CERTIFICATE, in the left margin: "I certify that this Diagram belongs to the Quitrent Title of this day issued in favour of FRANCOIS JOHANNES VAN DER MERWE. Sur. Genl. Office, 27 Aug 1885." A VAN DER MERWE HOLDING TITLE ON TYGERHOEK GROUND, and the first documentary landholding this project has for that line anywhere. Surveyed 1879, title issued 27 August 1885. HIS RELATIONSHIP TO THE LINE IS NOT ESTABLISHED. Francois Johannes van der Merwe is not otherwise in this model, and 9 forbids matching on a name alone. The family was on this ground from at least 1808, so a connection is likely and is not evidence. [TO VERIFY] Endorsed 'The numerical data of the diagram are sufficiently consistent' over two signatures. Marked 'CHECKED / DATA CHECKED'. Scale in Cape Roods.
