Die sitasie soos dit gegee is

Supplied by Franswith the instruction "lets catch key weather info in timeline - could be insightful for that area". WHAT IS CERTAIN AND WHAT IS NOT, per 5a-ii: the CONTENT is read straight off the article and is not in doubt. The PUBLICATION DETAILS are not established - the copy held carries no metadata, names no journal on the pages supplied, and the filename 31-61-1-SM.pdf is a submission id, not a citation. Author, title and pagination are taken from the running head. The journal, volume and year are [TO VERIFY] and must not be invented; Visser publishes in several, and guessing which would be exactly the error 5a-ii was written for. SCHOLARLY BASIS, which is why it is worth citing: municipal minutes, reports and documents 1848-1955 in the Western Cape Archives (3/BFW), complemented by the local paper The Courier (established 1869). ONE FIGURE WORTH HAVING SEPARATELY: the article gives Beaufort West's average annual rainfall as 20,32 cm. Every drought year below should be read against that number. | [4 Aug 2026] A NULL RESULT, RECORDED SO IT IS NOT REDISCOVERED AS A FINDING. The obvious thing to ask of a drought series is whether hard years pushed land to change hands. In this model they did not, and if anything the reverse: of 78 dated ownership starts between 1820 and 1955, 14 (18%) fall inside a drought window, while drought windows cover 42 of those 136 years (31%). Transactions are LESS frequent in dry years than chance would give. NO CLAIM IS MADE EITHER WAY. Two reasons. The sample is small; and this project's ownership record is document-driven, so it measures which deeds and diagrams we happen to hold as much as what happened - exactly the artefact that killed the 'twin peaks of land transfer' idea earlier the same day. The weather series is worth having as context for what life on these farms was like; it is not evidence about when land moved.

Woordeliks gehou.
