Die sitasie soos dit gegee is

THE VERSO carries three deductions, and every one of them has been RENUMBERED in a later hand - the original labels are struck out and replaced: "Lot C" becomes 178/29, 4684 morgen 310 roods, deed 1888-44-20; "Ptn. 4" becomes 178/32, 294,9701 morgen, survey E46/1955, dgm 336/1955, deed 7854/1956; "Ptn. 5" becomes 178/33, 5,0297 morgen, dgm 337/1955, same deed 7854/1956. THAT RENUMBERING IS ITSELF THE POINT. A portion of this district can carry two numbers fifty years apart, with the old one struck through on the sheet - which is exactly the mechanism that would explain Riet Kuyl appearing as 118 on its 1833 diagram and as 119 in the modern cadastre (SRC-230), and it is why this project keeps hitting farm-number conflicts. AN ARITHMETIC PROBLEM, RECORDED NOT RESOLVED: the face of this diagram gives the remaining portion as 3413 morgen 140 square roods, and the first deduction on its back is 4684 morgen 310 roods - larger than the parcel it is deducted from. Either the Lot C line is a deduction from an earlier and larger figure in the same lineage, or one of the two readings is wrong. The 1888 deed date sits between the 1886 title and the 1955 surveys, so the order is at least consistent. [TO VERIFY]
