Die boedel van Jacobus Oosthuysen d'oude word geïnventariseer
27 April 1802 · family
[SRC-093] MOOC8/24.27. Taken at the place of the son Pieter Cornelis, where the widow was living. The old couple owned no farm: 140 sheep, Rd:s 300 cash, one enslaved man named ANTHONY VAN DE KAAP, and Rd:s 1382:5 out on loan to their own eight surviving children. Their son OCKERT - heir no. 3, the man who would die at de Modder Fonteyn seven years later - owed 100 rixdollars. Eight orphaned grandchildren are listed with the household each had been placed in, and for six of them the clerk records "d'ouderdom niet bekend": nobody in the room could say how old they were. | [1 Aug 2026, date audit] CHECKED, NOT AN ERROR: PER-000241 Marthinus Oosthuizen died in 1799 and is named in this 1802 inventory. That is how these documents work - a predeceased child is named because his own children inherit by representation, and this inventory lists eight orphaned grandchildren. Left as it stands.
